Academic Symposium (since MT 2025)

Since Michaelmas Term 2025, we gather at the Principal’s Lodging to conduct our termly MCR Academic Symposium.

Our steering team includes Jay Mok, Robert Gullifer, Anne-Marie Harvett, and Hanjun Zhao. We all work voluntarily on this initiatives and we always keep an eye for anyone who like to take this space to test out their research ideas and share research insight. MCR Academic Symposium.

On 27 November 2025, during the penultimate week of Michaelmas term, Harris Manchester College’s MCR, led by new President Jay Mok, launched its inaugural Academic Symposium, in conjunction with the College’s Principal, Professor Beth Breeze.

Hilary Term 2026

MCR Academic Symposium.

You are invited to join us in-person or online for the termly event in which HMC students can share and talk about their areas of study. The evening will be very informal and supportive. Several MCR members and, for the first time, two JCR students have volunteered to start the evening off by talking briefly about their areas of research. This will be followed by an opportunity for Q&A and general informal discussion on students’ areas of interest.

No need for signups. Good wine will be served.

The symposium will be held in the Principal’s Lodgings by her kind invitation.
